Common questions about custom timber furniture in Helsinki
We work primarily with Finnish birch, pine, and ash. Birch is our default for tabletops and visible surfaces; pine for carcass and internal structure; ash for legs and structural details. All timber is sourced from certified Finnish suppliers.
A single birch dining table typically takes 6–8 weeks from confirmed drawings. Built-in benches and wardrobe carcasses run 4–6 weeks. Full apartment packages require 10–14 weeks. We provide a firm timeline after the design consultation.
Yes. Every commission begins with an on-site consultation (€120/h, minimum two hours). We measure the space, note ceiling heights, radiator positions, and door clearances — details that catalogue furniture often ignores.
Delivery and installation within Helsinki city limits is included for commissions over €4,500. Smaller pieces can be collected from our Punavuori workshop or delivered for a separate fee quoted in advance.
We can coordinate timber species, stain tones, and edge profiles to sit alongside existing pieces. Bring samples or photos to your consultation and we will advise on the closest match using Finnish timber stocks.
Hardwax oil is our standard — it protects without a plastic feel and allows spot repair. Matte water-based lacquer is available for high-wear surfaces like kitchen benches. We do not use high-gloss polyester finishes.
We build the carcass frame, shelving, and hanging infrastructure. Sliding or hinged doors can be supplied by us in birch ply or coordinated with your preferred door supplier — we provide exact opening dimensions.
A 40% deposit confirms your slot in the workshop schedule. A further 40% is due when production begins. The remaining 20% is payable on delivery and installation. Invoices are issued in euros with 14-day payment terms.
